Gerbereien verwenden sie zum Salzen und Entlimen von Häuten; die Textilfärbung nutzt sie zur pH-Kontrolle bei der Färbung von Wolle und Polyamid; Silageproduzenten verwenden sie als Konservierungsmittel mit etwa 3-5 Litern pro Tonne Futter. Sie ist auch ein Reduktionsmittel bei der Gummi-Koagulation.
